STEP 1 : Catch in some Red Game fibres along the hookshank to form a tail.
STEP 2 : Catch in a length of Fine Gold wire and a length of gold holographic tinsel. Make sure that the body is level and finish winding with the thread near the gold bead.
STEP 3 : Wind the tinsel back up to the gold bead, secure with thread and trim waste. Catch in a Red Game Hackle with the barbs around 1.5 times the width of the hook bend.
STEP 4 : Palmer the hackle down towards the hook bend, stopping where the tinsel ends.
STEP 5 : Wind the gold wire back up the hookshank, making sure not to trap any of the hackle fibres. (An easy way to prevent this is to move the wire from side to side as you wind). Secure the wire and trim both the wire and the hackle tip that is left at the lower end of the hook. Now catch in another Red Game Hackle, this will create the head hackle.
STEP 6 : Wind the head hackle a few times, whip finish and varnish. The head hackle fibre density depends on preference, I prefer a fairly bulky head hackle but others prefer them sparse.
