Catch in some black hackle fibres along the hookshank to form a tail.

Catch in a long black cock hackle. Make sure that the body is level and finish winding with the thread near the eye.

Wind the cock hackle in close turns to give a "bushy" effect, the cock hackle should have barbs at least 1.5 times the width of the hook bend. Secure the cock hackle and trim the waste.

Catch in a white cock hackle at the position where the black cock hackle was tied off.

Wind the white cock hackle a few times and secure. The white cock hackle should have barbs slightly longer than those used on the body hackle.

Trim the waste, create a neat head and varnish.
