Step 1

Start by catching the tying thread onto the hookshank.

Catch in a bunch of Black cock hackle fibres, secure to the hook shank and trim waste, Try and keep the thread as uniform as possible.

Step 3

Catch in a length of Black Chenille and return the thread to a position a little way from the eye.

At the thread position secure the chenille with thread and trim any waste.

Secure the wing just a little way back to leave enough room for the head. Trim waste>

Catch in a bunch of black hen or cock hackle fibres under the hookshank to create a neat underwing or beard.

Create a neat head, whip finish and varnish.
