Catch in a piece of gold wire along the hookshank, stop the thread wraps just before a position opposite the barb.
Catch in two peacock herls , tied in tip first and return the thread back up the hook shank and leave near the eye.
Wind the peacock herls up the hook shank to the eye being careful not to overlap them and tie off with thread.
Wind the wire up the hook shank to create a rib. Secure with thread. Now trim the waste wire by rocking it back and forth, this should cause the wire to snap at the tie in point.
Catch in a hen hackle. I prefer to use a hackle that has barbs around 1.5 to 2 times the width of the hook bend.
Wind the hen hackle once or twice depending on how sparce you want the hackle to be. Tie off with thread, whip finish and varnish the head.
