Step 1

Catch in the thread and wind it down the hookshank to a point where a marabou tail will be tied in.

Take a bunch of marabou and remove any excess fluff from the stems. Wet the stems, catch in and secure along the hookshank towards the eye. The marabou tail for the Tadpole should be at least two inches long.

Step 3

Take a couple of strands of Black Krystal flash (Optional) and secure to the hookshank so that one strand is on each side of the tail. Trim the length of the Krystal flash so its just slightly longer that the marabou.

Step 4

At the position where the marabou tail was tied in, take a length of black chenille and strip about 10mm of the chenille from the end so that the core is exposed and secure the exposed core to the hookshank. Wind the thread back up towards the eye.

Step 5

Wind the chenille up the hookshank. After each wind I find it helps to push the fibres back with your left hand using the thumb and index finger before performing the next winding. About 1/3 of the length of the hookshank from the eye secure the black chenille with thread and trim any waste.

Step 6

Take a length of fluo green chenille and again strip about 10mm of the chenille from the end so that the core is exposed and secure the exposed core to the hookshank. Wind the thread back up towards the eye.

Step 7

Wind the chenille up the hookshank until about 5 mm from the eye. Secure the chenille with thread and trim any waste. After each wind I find it helps to push the fibres back with your left hand using the thumb and index finger before performing the next winding.
